What is Branding?
What comes to mind when many people hear the word “branding” is a company’s logo and perhaps their tagline. That’s certainly part of it, but it’s not the whole picture, by any means.
We had the privilege of having Brand Engineer Janet Rouss as a guest speaker at one of our events, and she explained that branding is really about the values that define us and our businesses. Being clear about who we are and what makes our businesses unique will help us make strong connections and build lasting relationships with ideal clients and prospects.
She further stated that everything we do influences the way others perceive our brands. Many of the examples she cited go far beyond our business name and marketing pieces such as our websites and business cards.
Have you ever considered the following as elements of your brand?
- Typography
- Conversations at networking events, or on the telephone
- Fees
- Alliances
It was a real eye-opener for many of us!
