Discussion: Mid-Year Goals Review

At our last in-person meeting, we talked about what we hoped to accomplish this year, how we were planning to go about it, and what we need to make it happen.

Little did we know we were entering a year like we’ve never experienced.

At our July meeting, we considered these questions:

  • How are you making out with the goals did you set for yourself and your business at the beginning of the year?
  • Have you had to pivot as a result of the pandemic?
  • What are your goals for the remainder of 2020?

Most of us are happy with our progress to date. Because of the virtual nature of our businesses, the pandemic hasn’t hindered our ability to continue working.

Here are how we responded individually:

  • Janet wanted to streamline and get more done in less time but because I’ve had more time available it hasn’t been a priority. Work’s been steady and my income is about the same as last year, which is good, but I’d like to slow down, especially now that summer is here.
  • Jan wanted to be mostly retired but is now back to part-time work and enjoying it. She never took a break since she left her full-time job and now that she’s had it, she’s right where she wants to be.
  • Cathy was semi-retired. She picked up a new client in January which is going well, and would like one more small client to fill her part-time schedule.
  • Salma’s goals were to sell house in Hamilton and keep her business going. She has succeeded and is now settling into her new home and community in New Brunswick. Due to the pandemic she has had the opportunity to learn how to sell products online via Walmart and Amazon. She has also joined a Buy Nothing Facebook group and is starting a local group.
  • Angela’s goal was to grow her business. Tom is now working with her full-time and she has built a part-time team. She’s happy with her achievements but needs to learn better delegation skills.
  • Alyson’s goal was to get 10 new clients and she only needs two or three more to reach this target.

If you were unable to attend, please tell us about your goals and your progress in the comments.
