Consistency in Social Media

by Crystal Burkholder

It’s not enough to just set up profiles and then not actively engage on a daily basis. Having a routine and staying committed to the process are key. Also staying focused on your target market requires discipline. Building your presence takes time.

Having a central hub is important. Increasingly, businesses are creating a blog as their “go to” site. Why? The social media audience loves fresh content. Unlike static websites, blog sites now offer you the ability to continually offer fresh, new information to your audience. This platform also allows your audience to comment back to you, giving you the feedback every business owner needs to stay on top of their clients’ needs and wants.

Subcontracting

by Angela Spisak

signing a contractSubcontracting with a VA firm is one of the greatest ways to gain experience. I was lucky to get introduced to a great VA firm through a mentor I worked with through the Canadian Virtual Assistant Connection (CVAC). Through them I was able to gain a lot of experience and knowledge about many of the things I didn’t even know existed when I first started.

Subcontracting allows you to work with many other VAs with many different skill sets. The team is usually very supportive of each other. I was fortunate that when I started with the firm I’m still with today, I worked with an experienced Online Business Manager (OBM) who would explain how to do something and let me run with it. This is certainly a huge perk if you can work with someone that is so willing to teach you the things you don’t know.

ListeningSocial media strategy isn’t the goal; it’s the path you plan to take to get there; and should always precede activity.

So what are your goals: to increase your customer base; to generate leads; to drive sales; to build awareness; to establish thought leadership; to educate customers; to reach new channels of customers?

You Must Have a Social Media Strategy

by Crystal Burkholder

StrategyWhen we hear social media, social media marketing, or social media networking, we automatically think about LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and maybe YouTube. But there is so much more to social media such as blogging, niche specific social channels, audio, video, and others.

Companies are being pressured into the whole social media thing from lots of angles. They’re reading about it in the press, they’re seeing it everyday on TV, their PR agency is asking them about it.

What does it mean and where do you start?

How to Find a VA That Rocks

by Janet Barclay

feedback form excellentSarah Shaw of The Entreprenette Gazette recently asked a number of business owners what their virtual assistants do for them and how they found them, and we’re very proud that the Golden Horseshoe Virtual Assistants Group was mentioned as one of the places to find great VAs!

There are a number of questions you should ask when looking for the virtual assistant that’s right for your business.

Many of your questions will probably relate to your specific needs, such as “What experience do you have working with [a particular software program, online service, or industry]?” You may also want to ask how their past work experience and training relates to the needs of your business.

Defining Your Unique Selling Proposition

by Peggy Stegmaier

Standing out in the crowdMany virtual assistants find it challenging to define their unique selling point, the important answer to the question, “Why would I select you instead of another VA?”

If you’re an experienced VA, there are a number ways to explore this subject. You can begin by asking your existing clients why they chose you over your competition. If you’ve ever had a client stop working with you and then come back, ask them the reasons for making that decision.
